Stacy’s Current and Recommended Reads

Stacy’s Reading List and Recommendations

Reading is one of my favourite things to do to relax. Reading helps me wind down at the end of the day. You will find me reading every chance I get. And this is where you can find my current reads.

I don’t always read new releases because sometimes an older book catches my eye and I am drawn to it. My favourite books are suspense and mystery but sometimes I step outside that genre and try something different.

Usually, I have a fiction and a non-fiction book going at the same time. It is rare that I read two fiction books at the same time. Sometimes I have multiple non-fiction books started at once.

What Am I Reading?

Fiction

I have just finished reading Cold, Cold Bones by Kathy Reichs and haven’t decided what my next read will be.

What Am I Listening To:

When it comes to non-fiction, listening to the audio version is my go-to. That way I can go about my daily routines of house cleaning, baking and cooking all while “reading” a book. I even listen while out for a walk or doing the grocery shopping

This is my non-fiction reading list. I love books I can listen to anywhere which is why non-fiction books are usually on my audio book list. Audible is my pick for listening to books, and if you sign up with this link you can get your first month free.

Previous Reads that I recommend:

              My Book ShelfFiction:

Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs (This is the first book in the Tempe Brennan series and had me hooked. I have read the entire series and I can’t wait for the next book to be released.)

When No One Is Watching By Alyssa Cole

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

Turn Of The Key by Ruth Ware

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton (Who doesn’t love this book? I have read this one so many times and it has become one of my kids favourites as well)

The Catcher in The Rye by J.D. Salinger (I read this book in high school and I loved it so much, I finished it in one day)

bestsellers

               Non-Fiction(Mostly Audio Books):

Hold On But Don’t Hold Still by Kristina Kuzmic. (I listened to this book on Audible and I loved it! I really recommend the audio version because Kristina Kuzmic narrates it and only she can do the perfect expressions to go along with the stories. Listening to the book made me feel like she was in the room telling me her stories personally.)

Find Your Path by Carrie Underwood. (This was another book I listened to on Audible. It was inspirational and full of great ideas about fitness. It is not the average fitness book, telling you what to do or what not to do. Instead there are suggestions that are realistic. I recommend this book as a guide to a healthier lifestyle.)

The 4% Fix by Karma Brown. (I finished this book on Audible, and then purchased the physical copy for reference. I really enjoyed this book. It was helpful and entertaining. I recommend The 4% Fix for anyone looking to find that extra hour to help accomplish your goals.)

Whiskey In A Teacup by Reese Witherspoon (Again this was one I listened to. I loved it so much I finished it in less than a day.)

Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey (This is one book that needs to be listened to. Hearing it read by Matthew McConaughey himself, makes this book that much more entertaining. And that accent! I really enjoyed this book, and if you are a McConaughey fan, you need to listen to this one.)

Love Lives Here by Amanda Jette Knox is an amazing book. The author tells the story of her family. This is a heartwarming story that I couldn’t stop listening to. Read by the author, this story is a true love story that is a must read. It helped me learn somethings I didn’t know, and I have a whole new respect for transgender people. Not that I didn’t respect them before. I just have more information now that I didn’t have before reading this book.

I have finished Will by Will Smith. The audio version is read by Will Smith himself which makes the book that much better. I had this audio book pre-ordered and couldn’t wait to start listening. This book definitely did not disappoint! I couldn’t stop listening. I laughed and I had teary eyes from this book. I highly recommend this book, especially the audio version. If you love Will Smith, you will love this book.

Cookbooks and Books About Food:

Cookbooks are definitely my favourite type of books. But one cookbook in particular has been on my shelf since I moved into my first apartment years ago. That is The Joy of Cooking by Irma S. Rombauer. I have the updated version from 2019 and refer back to it so many times when cooking. And when our daughter moved into her first apartment recently, I bought her a copy as well. It is definitely the best cookbook I have ever owned.

The Flavor Bible is best book for food pairings. This reference book is well used in our house.

Franklin Barbecue: A Meat-Smoking Manifesto is an amazing read for anyone interested in smoking meat and barbecue.
