Yes, this sauce can be made in large batches. We usually make a large pot of this sauce and can it for later.
For large batches of this sauce, we like to use our Homemade Barbecue Sauce as the base instead of bottled BBQ sauce. To preserve this sauce for later, follow canning instructions for high-acid foods.
How To Use Blueberry BBQ Sauce
This BBQ sauce can be used in almost any way you would use a traditional BBQ sauce. But there are some ways that we love to use this sauce.
Smoked ribs are one of the best ways to use this sauce. After smoking ribs, slather this Blueberry BBQ Sauce over the ribs. The blueberry flavour is perfect with pork ribs.
Storing Blueberry BBQ Sauce
When the sauce is cooled, pour it into jars or containers with lids and store it in the refrigerator for up to a month.
Alternatively, the BBQ sauce can be canned in mason jars using a water bath. When canned, this sauce will last up to a year on in a cool, dark place.

Ingredients
- 900 ml BBQ sauce
- 3 cups fresh blueberries
- 1 small white onion, diced
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in a large pot.
- Simmer over medium-low heat for 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Remove from heat and blend with an immersion blender until smooth.
- Cool and store in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 1 month.
