This BBQ sauce is made from a combination of fresh ingredients and pantry staples.

  • Apple cider vinegar.
  • Worcestershire sauce.
  • Garlic.
  • Brown sugar.
  • Maple syrup.
  • Lime juice.
  • Paprika.
  • Dry mustard.
  • Salt.
  • Canadian Whiskey.

What Makes This BBQ Sauce Different?

Most BBQ sauces have a base made from tomato or mustard. This sauce doesn’t contain either. Well, there is dry mustard added but not enough to over take the flavour of peaches.

Friends have dubbed this sauce the Great Canadian Peach Sauce because of the ingredients we use to make it. Fresh Ontario peaches, local maple syrup, and Canadian whiskey are all ingredients that add that Canadian touch to this BBQ sauce.

Equipment Needed For This Recipe

To make this recipe, a medium sized pot is needed for cooking.

And an immersion blender is used to blend the sauce after cooking for a smooth sauce. A regular blender can also be used.

Mason jars are a good idea for storing the sauce or air-tight containers.

Using This BBQ Sauce

There are many ways to use this sauce.

Basting chicken in this sauce on the BBQ gives chicken a sweet and spicy touch.

Glazing a pork tenderloin or smoked ribs with Jalapeno Peach BBQ Sauce not only gives flavour but also adds a sweet stickiness to ribs that is so good.

As a dipping sauce, this BBQ sauce is great for anything you would usually dip. Chicken wings, nuggets or chicken strips are perfect for dipping in this sauce.

How To Store Jalapeno Peach BBQ Sauce

Once cooled, store this sauce in a mason jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Canning this sauce is also a great idea if you’d like to have some on hand for later. We make large batches when peaches are in season and can it in hot water baths to store for later in the year.

Jalapeno Peach BBQ Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups fresh peaches, peeled and diced
  • 1-2 jalapenos, seeded and diced*
  • 1 small white onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp lime juice.
  • 1 Tbsp paprika
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • ¼ cup Canadian whiskey, optional

Instructions
 

  • Place all ingredients in a medium pot and stir to combine.
  • Heat over medium heat for 5-10 minutes or until peaches are soft, stirring and scraping bottom of pot to avoid sticking.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
  • Using an immersion blender, pulse the sauce until all ingredients are broken down and sauce is smooth.
  • Cool to room temperature before storing in the fridge in a Mason jar or air-tight container for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

* Use one jalapeno for a milder sauce, 2 jalapenos for more heat. 
* If sauce is too thin, add a tsp of cornstarch while pulsing with the blender to help thicken the sauce.
