Brownie Layer
1
cup
white sugar
⅓
cup
cocoa powder
½
cup
all-purpose flour
½
tsp
baking soda

eggs
½
cup
melted butter, cooled
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350℉.
Grease a brownie pan with butter or shortening
Cookie Layer
In a stand mixer, cream shortening and brown sugar until smooth and creamy, about 5 minutes.
Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
Stir in flour and baking soda on low speed until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Press even amounts of cookie dough into bottoms of the brownie pan sections.
Brownie Layer
Whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, flour, and baking soda in a medium-sized bowl.
Add eggs and vanilla extract, stirring to combine. Dough will be dry and chunky.
Add melted butter and stir until combined.
Spoon brownie batter evenly over cookie layer in prepared pans.
Bake in preheated oven for 22-25 minutes or until the brownie layer is baked through but still soft.
Allow to cool in pan for 5 minutes before removing bars from pan to cool on a rack.
Store cooled bars in an air tight container for up to three days.
Notes
A muffin pan can be used in place of the brownie pan.
