Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef, 454 grams
  • 2 Tbsp SPG (salt, pepper and garlic)
  • 2 cups chili, homemade or canned
  • 4 cheese slices
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  • Preheat BBQ or griddle to 350℉, or medium heat.
  • Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and form into 4 patties.
  • Season patties with SPG.
  • Place patties on the grill or griddle, cook 4-5 minutes.
  • Flip burgers and cook until cooked through, about 4 minutes, depending on the thickness on the patties.
  • While the patties are cooking, heat the chili and toast the buns.
  • Add a cheese slice to each cooked burger patty.
  • Place a burger on each of the bottom buns.
  • Top with ½ cup of chili.
  • Add top bun and serve.

Notes

  • To make the patties, we use a scale to get them evenly sized.
  • We flatten the patties by placing the meat between two pieces of waxed paper and then flattening them with a plate.
  • We like to cook our burgers until they are just cooked through. The time it takes to cook burgers will depend on how you like your burgers. Some like them medium rare, medium or well done. Cook the burgers to your preference.
  • SPG is a combination of salt, pepper and garlic powder. Our ratio is usually 2 salt, 2 garlic and 1 pepper.
