Ingredients For Chili Cheese Burgers

These Chili Cheese Burgers are quick to make and have only a few ingredients.

  • Ground beef. This is what the patties are made from. When we make burgers, we use nothing but ground beef for the patties.
  • SPG. This is a blend of salt, pepper and garlic and it is used to season the burger patties before cooking.
  • Cheese Slices. Any cheese works for burgers. We use processed cheese slices usually, but sometimes we use shredded cheddar or sliced Monterey Jack.
  • Chili. For the chili, it can be canned or homemade. We always use our homemade chili without beans for burgers.
  • Hamburger Buns. This can be regular burger buns or any type of bakery bun of your choice.
  • Burger toppings. Sometimes we add pickle slices, mustard or cheese sauce to the burgers.

What Chili Is Best For Chili Burgers?

The choice of chili for these burgers is up to you. We like to use a no bean chili when making chili cheese burgers. We usually have leftover chili in our freezer for when we want to make these.

Canned chili can be used as well.

How To Make Chili Cheese Burgers

Making Chili Cheese Burgers is easy and can be a quick dinner if you have leftover chili or if you use canned chili. This recipe is as easy as making burger patties and heating up the chili.

When making burgers we like to use a scale to measure the meat for patties. this way we can get patties that are the same size and cook evenly. For patties we use 4 ounces or 113 grams for each patty. To flatten the patties when place the meat between 2 pieces of waxed paper and press down with a small plate.

Cooking Chili Cheese burgers can be done in a few different ways. Our favourite is on our Blackstone Griddle. But we have also made these burgers on our gas grill and our charcoal kettle.

What to Serve With These Burgers

These burgers can be quite filling, making them great on their own or with a salad. But they are also great with a side of fries or tortilla chips with cheese sauce or salsa.

For entertaining, we turn these chili burgers into sliders and serve them with typical BBQ sides like mac and cheese, potato salad and pasta salads.
