Frozen Fuzzy Navel with a Twist

Summer is a great time to enjoy a cold, refreshing cocktail and this Frozen Fuzzy Navel is a perfect cocktail for a hot summer day.

Frozen Fuzzy Navel with a Twist

What is a Fuzzy Navel?

Original Fuzzy Navels call for Peach Schnapps and orange juice. Add vodka and it becomes a Hairy Navel.

Fuzzy Navels were a favourite of mine back when I was 18 and just old enough to buy alcohol in my mom’s hometown in Quebec. That was the late 1980s when cocktails were all the rage.

New Twist to an Old Favourite

For this drink, I add rum as well as frozen peaches. Blending all the ingredients together produces a slushie-type drink that is full of flavour. It is really refreshing and because it uses frozen peaches instead of adding ice cubes, there is no watering down. And a slush stays cold longer than a liquid drink with ice.

I use a personal-sized blender for making Frozen Fuzzy Navels with a Twist when I am making this for myself. But when it comes to making them for a crowd, I use a full-size blender.

When peaches are in season, I freeze my own peaches for this drink. Simply pit and slice peaches, then place in a single layer on a plate or cookie sheet and freeze for 1-2 hours before using. Leftover peach slices can be stored in a freezer bag for later use.

Non-Alcoholic Version

Frozen Fuzzy Navels can be made without the addition of Peach Schnapps and Rum for a virgin drink. This is great for those who don’t drink alcohol or can’t.

For serving, any glass you like can be used. I like to use stemless wine glasses, which are my go-to for almost all drinks. Cocktail glasses can also be used.
