Why Should You Bake in an Air Fryer?

The answer to this is simple. It saves time and energy. Air Fryers that have an oven feature, heat up faster than a traditional oven which saves on electricity.

This recipe as well as many of my other recipes have been tested using both the air fryer function and the oven function on our air fryer.

What Air Fryer Was Used For This Recipe?

The air fryer we use is made by Kalorik, and the Maxx Air Fryer Oven is both an air fryer and oven. It is also a rotisserie and grill. It has so many features and is the one we used and recommend.

Quick and Easy to Make

This cake is easy to make and bakes quickly in the air fryer. It can be made anytime, even on busy weeknights. In less than 30 minutes you can enjoy a warm slice of cake.

If you prefer to frost the cake, it will need to cool for at least 30 minutes before frosting. To speed up the cooling process, place the cake on a cooling rack and place it in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes.

Cake Size

The recipe makes an 8-inch square cake so it fits well in the air fryer. An 8-inch round cake pan also works well.

If you have a basket-style air fryer, a 6-inch cake pan can be used by adjusting the baking time. The cake will need 5 to 7 extra minutes of baking time if using a taller 6-inch pan.

Ingredients for Air Fryer Chocolate Cake

The ingredients for this recipe are the basic ingredients for Chocolate Cake:

  • all-purpose flour
  • white sugar
  • cocoa powder
  • baking powder
  • baking soda
  • salt
  • vanilla
  • eggs
  • butter (or margarine)
  • strong brewed coffee*

* If you prefer, boiling water can be used instead of coffee in this cake recipe.

Frosting or No Frosting?

Sometimes I frost this cake with buttercream icing, other times I leave it as it is. Other times, when time is limited, I top this cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberries or raspberries.

Chocolate or vanilla frosting or buttercream goes well on this cake.

Storing Air Fryer Chocolate Cake

This chocolate cake should be covered and stored at room temperature. It will last for up to three days at room temperature.

It can also be wrapped in plastic wrap and frozen for up to two months.
