Ingredients For Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread
To make this sweet bread, you will need these ingredients:
- All-purpose flour.
- Cinnamon.
- All-spice.
- Nutmeg.
- Baking Soda.
- Salt.
- Pumpkin puree.
- Eggs.
- White sugar.
- Vanilla extract.
- Vegetable oil.
- Chocolate chips.
- Raw Pumpkin seeds. (optional)
Pumpkin Puree, not Pie Filling
Make sure the canned pumpkin you use is pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling. Many people have made this mistake, even I have made the mistake when buying canned pumpkins. I tried using pie filling and the result was not the same. The taste was too sweet and the bread did not hold together well after baking.
Pumpkin Is Not Just For The Fall
For most people, pumpkin is only used in the fall, mainly for Thanksgiving pies. But I like to bake with pumpkin year round. Pumpkin not only adds flavor but using pumpkin in sweet bread also helps keep the bread moist. The bonus is that when baking with pumpkin, less oil is needed.
Why Top Pumpkin Bread With Raw Seeds?
The addition of pumpkin seeds on the top of the bread adds some crunch and extra vitamins and minerals. But this is optional.
Raw seeds are what is used in this recipe, not roasted or salted. If you don’t like or don’t have pumpkin seeds, walnuts can be used instead.
Storing Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread
Store the prepared bread in an airtight container. Usually, I slice the bread into portions once completely cooled and wrap it individually or in small containers for the kids to grab as a snack.
Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread can also be frozen. Wrap in parchment paper or waxed paper, then place in an air-tight container or freezer bag. Freeze for up to 3 months and thaw at room temperature before serving.

So delicious and perfect for fall!
Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread is the perfect fusion of rich chocolate and warm pumpkin flavors. The moist and spiced pumpkin bread, studded with melty chocolate chips, creates a delightful balance of sweetness and autumnal comfort.
I subbed vegan egg replacement for the eggs and it worked well! Perfect recipe for the Autumn season. Loved the chocolate chip addition to the bread!
