National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Christmas Vacation movie posterWho doesn’t love this movie? When you are looking for a movie with lots of laughs, Christmas Vacation definitely delivers.  From the cartoon at the beginning of the movie and the song, “It’s that time, Christmas time is here..”, you know that this movie is going to be none stop laughs. For us this movie never gets old. There are so many quotes in this movie that I couldn’t possibly tell you my favourite.

And what do we eat while watching Christmas Vacation? Vanilla Almond Sugar Cookies shaped like Moose just like Clark’s mug full of Egg Nog. You can find Christmas Vacation themed cookie cutters from Amazon.

The Santa Clause

The Santa Clause movie posterThis is a movie that was released when our oldest son was 2. He loved this movie and we still watch this movie and plan to introduce The Santa Clause to our youngest grandson this year. This movie almost has us believing in Santa again.

When we sit down to watch this movie, Hot Chocolate Cookies are our go to cookie. Santa loves hot cocoa so these cookies really go well with this movie. (Although our oldest son still insists that he needs Peanut Butter Balls to eat while watching this movie because that was his favourite Christmas treat to eat growing up.)

Home Alone

Home Alone movie posterThis is another family favourite. The laughs are almost non stop for the kids. They have been enjoying this movie since they were little and it is still one of our family movie night favourite in December.

For this movie, ice cream sandwiches are perfect. All kids would love a Kevin McCallister ice cream sundae. We make ice cream sandwiches with homemade Candy Cane Chocolate Chip Cookies for this movie night.

But you could also make ice cream sundaes topped with crumbled sugar cookies and candy canes. This is how our daughter likes her sundaes at Christmas.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

The GrinchThere are a few versions of this movie. The original cartoon is still my favourite. It’s the one I grew up watching. Then it’s the Jim Carrey version. Jim Carrey plays the Grinch so well. He really brought the character to life. And if we are watching this movie as a family, it is going to be the Jim Carrey Grinch movie as the kids call it.

No matter if you are watching the original cartoon version, the Jim Carrey version, or The Grinch, this one is a harder movie to pair a cookie with. You can make Sugar Cookies that are dyed green, cut in rounds with a small heart made of icing on each one. That is our favourite to make.

Shrek The Halls

Shrek The HallsThis movie became one of the kids’ favourites when it was released. The kids loved Shrek and this holiday special was watched over and over again when the boys were younger.

When we watch this special, we eat gingerbread men cookies. And of course, the boys used to think it was hilarious to bite the legs off first.

Christmas With The Kranks

Christmas with the KranksThis one is one of my favourites. This movie does have a great cast, Tim Allen, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dan Ackroyd, Cheech Marin, and many more.

For this movie, White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies are my favourite. The scene near the beginning of the movie when Nora sends Luther to the store for white chocolate is why this cookie is a great one to enjoy while watching this movie. White chocolate seems to set everything in motion, well if you haven’t seen the movie, watch it to find out.
