So Many Uses

Whether it’s chicken, pork, or beef, this seasoning can be used to flavour any meat before cooking. And if you add a little oil and lime juice to the seasoning, you can make a marinade.

A sprinkle of this seasoning on vegetables makes a great side dish. When grilling carrots, potatoes or corn, this seasoning adds flavour to otherwise bland-tasting food.

Adding 2-3 tablespoons of this seasoning to sour cream along with ranch seasoning, you can make a dip for vegetables or chips. This dip also goes great with wings, chicken nuggets, or nachos.

How many seasonings to Use

How much seasoning you add to your dishes is really up to you. It depends on what you are making and how much flavour you want to create.

Dishes to Use Southwest Seasoning

Southwest Seasoning can be used on chicken or beef for Fajitas.

It can also be used to season chicken for nachos.

Another use for this seasoning is in my recipe for Easy Shredded Chicken. You can replace the spices used in the recipe with this seasoning to change the flavour.

Nine Simple Ingredients

There are nine simple and easy to find ingredients in this recipe.

  • cumin
  • chili powder
  • oregano
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • paprika
  • coriander
  • pepper
  • cayenne pepper

No Salt

There is no salt in this seasoning. That is done purposely because some dishes need more salt than others. And we use this seasoning for making dips where salt is not needed. When using this seasoning, we add salt to the dish itself, not the seasoning.

No Sugar

Sugar is also not added to the seasoning but can be added to make a rub for ribs or a blackening rub for fish.

Storing Southwest Seasoning

The recipe is easily cut in half if you only want to use it once. Or the recipe can also be doubled or tripled to have on hand when you want to use it.

This seasoning can be kept in a mason jar for up to 3 months.
