Ingredients To Make Asian Pork Sliders

These sliders are made in two parts, the sliders and a coleslaw that is used for the topping.

The Sliders:

  • Ground pork. A lean ground pork is used for this recipe.
  • Hoisin Sauce. An Asian sauce that is tangy and salty, it gives a whole lot of flavour to otherwise tasteless pork.
  • Garlic. This is essential in many Asian dishes. We use jarred minced garlic because it is quicker and we always have a jar in the fridge.
  • Ginger. grated ginger is another ingredient that is used in many Asian recipes.
  • Sesame oil. A little goes a long way with this oil. But it is needed to add to the Asian flavours.
  • Fish sauce. Another ingredient that adds flavour with just a little.
  • Sriracha. A unique sauce that adds heat. Use as much or as little as you like.
  • Salt.
  • Pepper.
  • Slider Buns. We like to use King’s Hawaiian Savory Rolls.

Sriracha Coleslaw:

  • Cabbage mix. We like to use a premade cabbage mix which is cabbage and carrots that are already shredded. This cuts down on the time it takes to make this recipe.
  • Rice Vinegar. Every good coleslaw needs some kind of acid and rice vinegar adds that acid along with a flavour that complements the Asian flavours in the burgers.
  • Sriracha. This is where a bit of heat comes in for this slaw.
  • Sugar. A little sugar is added to balance out the flavours.
  • Mayonnaise. the base of the dressing is mayonnaise. We use full fat mayonnaise for this recipe but low fat can also be used.
  • Salt.
  • Pepper.
  • Sesame Seeds. These are optional but they add a nice touch to the coleslaw.

Vegetable oil will also be needed to oil the griddle to prevent the patties from sticking.

Toppings for Asian Pork Sliders

We tend to eat these sliders with only the coleslaw on them, but we have other toppings available as well.

Additional hoisin sauce. We sometimes add a small amount of hoisin sauce on top of the meat before adding the coleslaw for an extra layer of flavour.

Sriracha Sauce can also be added when assembling the sliders for those who like extra heat.

Alternative Ingredients

The pork in this recipe can be substituted for ground chicken or turkey for those who prefer.

Serving These Sliders

When serving these for lunch, we sometimes just have them on their own or with a side of potato chips. Sometimes we serve them with a side of potato salad.

These sliders also are a great addition to a BBQ buffet. We make these and keep them warm in a metal pan on a low set BBQ when we are entertaining. We add the coleslaw only when it’s time to serve them.

To make these into a meal, serve them with fries, sweet potato fries, a salad, or mac and cheese. They can be paired with just about any BBQ side dish.
