Baking Sweet Bread on The BBQ or Smoker

Using a BBQ or smoker to make this recipe is perfect for summer months when it’s too hot to heat up the oven and the kitchen.

The instructions remain the same for preheating the BBQ or the smoker. If using the BBQ, you will want to use indirect heat and rotate the bread pan halfway through cooking.

When using a smoker, a mild smoking wood will work best. We have used cherry wood pellets in our pellet smoker for this bread and it turned out amazing! Apple is also a good choice.

How To Serve Chocolate Chip Bread

There are many ways to enjoy a loaf of chocolate chip bread. It can be eaten sliced on its own for a snack, as part of breakfast or with a cup of tea for an afternoon pick me up.

Another way to eat this bread is to heat slices in an air fryer so they become slightly crispy and the chocolate chips start to melt. Then spread peanut butter or almond butter on it for a quick breakfast.

This bread is great for making the night before a road trip because it can be sliced and wrapped for eating on the go. It is great for eating at a road stop or picnic area on long trips.

How To Store Chocolate Chip Bread

After cooling completely, this sweet bread should be stored in an air-tight container at room temperature. It will stay fresh up to 3 days. It is best not to cut the slices until ready to eat so the bread doesn’t dry out.

It can also be wrapped and frozen for up to 3 months. To freeze, the loaf can be sliced before freezing and wrapped individually. This makes it easier to grab a slice or two at a time.
