Why Make Your Own Breakfast Patties?

These turkey patties are made with nothing but meat and spices. There are no fillers or preservatives. They taste better than frozen sausage patties and you can control the sodium in these unlike premade frozen turkey patties.

This recipe also does not contain sugar, egg, grains, or milk, unlike the packaged variety. This is great news for those with food allergies.

Also making your own patties gives you the freedom of making them as large or as small as you want them.

Ingredients For Turkey Breakfast Patties

With only eight ingredients that are mostly spices and herbs, these turkey patties are easy to make. The only addition that is needed will be oil for the griddle so the patties don’t stick. For this our go-to oil is avocado oil because of its high smoke point.

  • Fresh ground turkey. For this recipe we use fresh ground lean turkey only.
  • Ground dried thyme.
  • Ground dried sage.
  • Garlic powder.
  • Fine Sea Salt.
  • Black pepper.
  • Ground cloves.
  • Cayenne pepper.

Other Ways To Cook Turkey Patties

Although our favourite way to cook these patties is on our Blackstone, they can also be cooked in other ways.

  • Cast Iron Pan. This is how we cook these patties when we are camping.
  • Grilling Mat. If you don’t have a Blackstone or similar, these patties can be cooked on a gas grill using a grill mat. These grilling mats turn your BBQ into a flat top and are reusable.

How To Serve Turkey Patties

Mostly we serve these patties at breakfast but they can be served anytime of day. They make a great lunch and dinner as well. Turkey Breakfast patties can be served any way that you would serve breakfast sausages.

Serve these patties on a bagel or English muffin with eggs and cheese to make a breakfast sandwich that is even good to eat on the go.

They can be paired with scrambled eggs or fried eggs and toast for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Pancakes go great with sausages and these turkey patties are no exception.

What To Do With Leftover Turkey Patties

Any leftover patties should be cooled and stored in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 48 hours. Reheat patties in the microwave for 30 second intervals until heated through.

Freezing these patties is easy. They will last in the freezer for up to three months. When freezing, the patties can be frozen before cooking or after cooking. To freeze raw patties, place the patties between sheets of wax paper then freeze in a freezer bag. Cook from frozen, adding a minute or two to cooking.

If freezing cooked patties, place them in a freezer bag or air-tight container and freeze for up to 3 months. When reheating, place a damp paper towel over the patties in the microwave so they don’t dry out too much.
