Our 5 Best BBQ Side Dishes

No BBQ is complete without side dishes to compliment the main dish, which is usually the meat. Here are our 5 most requested and loved side dishes to make any BBQ complete.

Creamy Potato Salad

Bowl of potato saladThis is an adaptation of my mom’s Potato Salad. Creamy Potato Salad is made with mashed potatoes instead of cubes. It is rich and creamy and pairs well with any BBQ. We have served this salad with everything from burgers to brisket.

This recipe is rather large, using 10 pounds of potatoes, so it is great for a crowd. But can also be cut in half for a smaller crowd.

Macaroni Salad

Plated macaroni saladThis macaroni salad is a copycat recipe. It is based on Kraft Pasta Salad in the green box. It is very close to the real thing. My family can’t tell the difference.

This macaroni salad is another one of those BBQ side dishes that goes with whatever you are cooking on the BBQ. From pulled pork to beer can chicken, this salad goes with it all. And it is easy to make.

Grilled Sweet Potatoes

Chipotle Sauce with Grilled Sweet PotatoesEasy to make and full of flavour, these Grilled Sweet Potatoes are perfect as a side for burgers or steak.

The kids love these because they taste like fast food sweet potato, especially when there is a dip on the side.

They are great on their own. And are even better when paired with Homemade Chipotle Sauce.

Grilled Cheddar Bacon Potatoes

Bacon Cheddar Potatoes on the grillYou can’t go wrong with cheddar and bacon on top of grilled potatoes. These potatoes are so easy to make and you can swap the cheddar for any cheese of your choice.

They can be served with a side of sour cream to dip.

These potatoes are great with steak or pork chops. They are also great as a side for chicken.

Apple Coleslaw

Apple ColeslawThis is our favourite way to make coleslaw. The tangy flavour of the green apples in this slaw makes it so good.

This slaw is great to serve with any BBQ pork. Our favourite is using it as a topping on pulled pork sandwiches.
