Ingredients For Grapefruit Pork Tenderloin

The ingredients for this recipe are simple and easy to find.

  • Pork tenderloins. Two tenderloins are used in this recipe.
  • Grapefruit. One whole grapefruit is used for the zest and juice. Usually we use red grapefruit because of their sweetness and their availability here in Canada.
  • Honey. Local honey is our choice for this dish.
  • Dijon mustard. The strong flavour of Dijon balances out the sweetness of the red grapefruit and honey.
  • Tequila. Silver or Blanco is our go to because it is what we keep stocked in the cabinet.
  • Kosher salt.
  • Fresh thyme sprigs.

Does The Marinade Have to Use Tequila?

The answer to this question is no. If you prefer to not use Tequila, it can be omitted.

Tequila is an alcohol that helps to enhance the flavours in the marinade. It acts as an acid in the marinade.

If you don’t have tequila, another alcohol can be used. In a pinch, we have used dry vermouth as well as a dry white wine.

Grilling Grapefruit Pork Tenderloin

Grilling pork tenderloins is one of the best ways to cook them. Sear the tenderloins first. Then move them to indirect heat to finish cooking.

These pork tenderloins can be grilled on a gas BBQ or charcoal. The choice is yours.

We have also cooked these over a fire while camping. We freeze the tenderloins in the marinade before packing it in the cooler. The pork will marinade as it thaws. Then we cook it on a grate over the fire or in a cast iron pot.

How To Serve Grapefruit Pork Tenderloin

Serving these tenderloins hot is the best way to serve them.

  • Serve over basmati rice with grilled vegetables.
  • Baked potatoes are a great side dish for these pork tenderloins.
  • Macaroni or pasta salads go well with these as well as potato salad.
  • Mac and cheese is the perfect BBQ side dish.
